On a physical card, the claim code is under a scratch-off or peel-off strip on the back. Uncover it gently so no characters get damaged. Amazon.com says claim codes are 14 or 15 characters, usually letters and numbers, and they're not the serial number. For an e-code, copy the code exactly as you received it.

Amazon issues gift cards per country store. An Amazon.com (USA) card can't be used on Amazon sites in other countries, and Amazon.co.uk (UK) cards are for Amazon.co.uk. Cards come as physical cards with a hidden claim code or as digital e-codes. Check which options are listed in the app, then pick the country and type matching your card.

An Amazon card can be declined if its claim code was already redeemed on an Amazon account (maybe by someone else who saw the code), a physical card bought in a store was never activated at checkout, or the code is scratched or unreadable. If your card is declined, the app shows you the reason.

Amazon.com (USA) gift cards don't expire. Amazon.co.uk gift cards are valid for 10 years from the date of issue, and other Amazon stores set their own terms. Once a card is redeemed to an Amazon account, its balance can't be transferred to another account, so only an unredeemed card can be sold.
